In an atmosphere filled with joy, pride, and celebration, the International University marked its 18th anniversary on Monday morning, October 20, 2025, at the Libya Al-Waeda Hall.
The event was attended by University President Professor Dr. Mohamed Saad Mubarak, alongside a distinguished group of university leaders, staff, honored guests, families of the winning children from various Libyan cities, as well as a number of visual artists and members of the competition’s judging panel.
During the ceremony announcing the results of the drawing competition, the University President delivered a speech congratulating everyone on the university’s 18th anniversary. He emphasized that since its founding, the International University has committed itself to advancing cultural and intellectual development, supporting the fine arts, promoting value-based education, and strengthening partnerships with institutions that share its mission of cultivating noble and beautiful values.
He recalled that just one year ago, on the university’s 17th anniversary, the International University hosted the largest tribute to visual artists in the history of Libyan universities—honoring more than 40 artists from across the country, both living and deceased, representing diverse generations and artistic schools. That celebration was a truly national event.
“This year,” the President stated, “we move forward with hope and toward the future, directing our attention to the artistic talents of our children—especially in drawing, one of the most expressive and emotionally enriching art forms.”
He continued: “We have expressed our vision of the unity between art, history, and homeland, and we have continued to support student clubs and activities by launching the ‘Visual Arts Club,’ reaffirming the role of creativity in elevating aesthetic taste and emotional depth.”
He added: “Today’s competition is a continuation of that vision. It is an invitation for our children to portray their cities through their brushes—so we may imagine more beautiful cities and a homeland with broader horizons. It is a way to instill in them a love for art and a sense of belonging.”
On this occasion, the President extended heartfelt congratulations to the winning boys and girls, praising their imaginative and radiant work. He also encouraged all participating children to keep drawing and dreaming, affirming that art is a path to self-confidence and a flourishing homeland built by hearts that cherish beauty and generosity.
He concluded his speech by saying: “We encourage families to participate and deeply appreciate the efforts of the judging panel and organizing team in advancing the university’s mission to serve society and promote the values of creativity and beauty.”
The Libya Al-Waeda Hall witnessed a truly exceptional atmosphere, with winning children from various Libyan cities attending alongside their families, and children from community institutions joining in to elevate the spirit of joy and artistic appreciation.
The winning children were honored and presented with motivational prizes amid the delight of their families and their own excitement.
