On the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026, the Department of Community Responsibility, chaired by Ms. Waheba Al-Hassi, held an extensive meeting with sustainability partners to promote volunteer and environmental initiatives, reinforce strategic partnerships, and activate collective action among institutions and leading organizations in volunteer and community work.
The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of specialists and civil society actors, including:
- Mr. Mohamed Jaouda (Hope Makers Organization)
- Mr. Riyadh Al-Houni (Youth Volunteer Organization)
- Mr. Sofian Al-Masri and Ms. Fatima Al-Majbri (Scout Commission – Community Service and Development Sector)
- The Director of the Department of Environment and Sustainability
The participants addressed three key agenda items aimed at creating a sustainable positive impact in society:
- Preparation for “Arab Traffic Day” Innovative ideas were presented to commemorate this day, with discussions emphasizing the importance of joint efforts among all institutions to deliver a comprehensive awareness message that enhances traffic safety. It was noted that the university had previously celebrated World Traffic Safety Day, which strengthens the experience of participating institutions in organizing this event and distributing roles to ensure its success.
- Development of the “Food Bank” Program Mechanisms were explored to activate the Food Bank program with the goal of alleviating the needs of low-income families. Pioneering ideas were proposed to ensure the sustainability of the program and expand support channels, guaranteeing dignified and efficient delivery of aid. The initiative aims to evolve into a comprehensive community project addressing the root causes of need.
- Celebration of World Bicycle Day The attendees discussed innovative approaches to marking this day beyond traditional frameworks. Contributions focused on encouraging eco-friendly sports culture and designing accompanying activities that serve sustainable development goals while promoting healthy lifestyles within the community.
A Shared Vision The meeting concluded by affirming that the synergy between the Department of Community Responsibility and sustainability partners is the driving force for achieving the desired change. The participants agreed to immediately begin drafting executive plans to transform these ideas into tangible realities that serve the public good.
