and Presents the Green Seedling Shield to the International University
The Libyan International University attaches great importance to the theme of environment and sustainability, making it a fundamental component of its strategy and a core pillar of its orientations and pathways. To this end, the University established the Agency for Community Responsibility and Sustainability, which works to strengthen this concept, spread this culture, and document cooperation and partnerships with entities concerned with environmental and sustainability issues.
In this context, and within this approach, the environmental event “Tawazon” concluded on the evening of Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Scout Leader Ali Khalifa Al-Zaidi Hall. The event was hosted and supported by the University through its Agency for Community Responsibility and Sustainability, and ran for four days starting Thursday, July 30, 2026. It was organized in an inspiring manner by the Green Seedling Foundation, in cooperation with the Youth Volunteer Work Organization. The event coincided with the International Day of Natural Resources and drew remarkable interest from environmental enthusiasts and gardening hobbyists.
The distinguished program included:
A panel discussion under the theme “From Natural Resources to Sustainable Agriculture”, presented by Dr. Abdel Salam Quweider, Prof. Abdel Salam Shanabo, Dr. Fatima Mohamed Younis, Dr. Fatima Aqoub Al-Shalmani, and Prof. Fatima Mohamed Ahmeida.

On the fourth and final day, a workshop on “Fruit Tree Care” was delivered by Prof. Fatima Mohamed Hamida. It addressed key topics such as principles of fruit tree care, proper irrigation and fertilization methods, pest prevention and control, and techniques to improve production quality.
The workshop witnessed strong interaction and notable attendance, with participants enriching the session through questions and inquiries. These were comprehensively answered by Prof. Fatima Mohamed Hamida, Prof. Fatima Al-Shalmani, and Dr. Fatima Mohamed Younis, with clarity, inclusiveness, and accessible explanations.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the workshop speakers—members of the Green Seedling Foundation and faculty members at Omar Al-Mukhtar University—in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the success of the program.
Engineer Abrik Al-Ghaithi, President of the Green Seedling Foundation, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Libyan International University for its excellent organization and hosting. He presented the Green Seedling Shield to the University, which was received by Ms. Wehba Al-Hassi, Director of the Agency for Community Responsibility and Sustainability. A commemorative shield was also presented to the Youth Volunteer Work Organization.
The organizers concluded the joyful event by emphasizing the economic and social importance of such environmental initiatives and their vital role in motivating society to adopt sustainable environmental practices and protect natural resources.
